Meet The Team

  • John McIntosh Managing Director - McIntosh Commercial Construction Limited, Managing Director - McIntosh Precast Limited

My interest outside of work have revolved around sport and spending time with my family. I played rugby for Allenton in my younger years, and then when I attended Ashburton College I made the switch and started playing for the Ashburton College First Fifteen team that was involved in weekly Saturday rugby fixtures against teams from half the south island. While with the Ashburton College team i got the opportunity to play against Christ's College from Christchurch at what was then Jade Stadium (AMI Stadium now). This game was the curtain raiser for the All Blacks vs. Australia Bledisloe cup match. Through my rugby years I represented mid Canterbury in my age groups, but after a back injury I decided to have a break from rugby.

I have also trained with my father doing karate since I was about 8 years old. This was always a juggling act with rugby training and karate training both on a Tuesday and Thursday night. I went through all the grades and obtained my black belt at the age of 17, after a 5 and half hour grading session. I was also lucky enough to go to japan with karate and compete in a tournament over there. It was a great opportunity in which i don't think I will ever forget the experience of walking down the foot path in Tokyo at rush hour as a fourteen year old.

At the age of eighteen I decided to sit my scuba diving certificate. I like to spend some of my free time out diving at different spots along the coast line catching crayfish. I also try to do a bit of free diving and get some paua and spear what fish I can see. I have a young family, my wife Leticia runs the office for all of our entity's while also being mum to our three children Ayla, Harlow and William.

  • Alastair McIntosh Managing Director - McIntosh Builders Limited

Alastair's interests outside of building have mainly revolved around sport. He played rugby in his younger years, and at the age of 14 his father took him to Christchurch to learn Judo. The class was already full at the time he went so he went to the Karate hall and started training and has never stopped. Since then, he has gone to Australia and Japan both for training and fighting. He runs a club in Ashburton which has been going for 35 years, and in this time has produced over 30 black belts, with some people training with him for 25 years. The club is highly respected for its strong traditional ways in many parts of the world. The club goes to Japan and competes about every three years in a world competition, and Alastair has formed many lasting friendships across the world. John also obtained his black belt 6 years ago.

Alastair's commitment to the local community over the years has included providing a training hall for people to train in, as part of a non-profit club to fuel the passion for martial arts. Alastair has also competed in several triathlons including the Coast to Coast one day event. Having a Wife over the years who has also had a passion for a fit and healthy lifestyle has made it easy to dedicate time to sporting goals.

Alastair believes training is like work, if you are going to have a go stick at it and give it your all, do not look back and have regrets.
